Keynote Speech: "SOCIAL IMPACT"

Mads Nygaard   AART_Architects Denmark

AART architects is a Danish architectural practice with an interdisciplinary approach to the design process. The approach is the foundation of their current sustainable agenda,  where the goal is to make evidence based long-lasting architecture with a higher social value.

AART architects often collaborates with anthropologists to re-examine their completed buildings to understand how the buildings perform regarding well-being, accessibility, and

social interaction. On some projects they also work at the early stages with users and other

stakeholders to understand user expectations and their responses to initial design ideas.

The findings from these investigations give a holistic perspective on how the buildings are

used and how future projects can be optimized.

By offering architecture derived from social insights and documented impact, their work represents a sustainable agenda that moves beyond the energy performance of buildings, and focuses more on the social aspects of sustainability.
